Sony Next Generation Portable (NGP) vs. Nintendo 3DS: Who Will Win?
While it’s still not 100 percent official, and we’re missing a great many details about it, Sony’s “PlayStation Portable 2″ is all but confirmed as a project codenamed Next Generation Portable (NGP). On paper, it sounds more like a small tablet than a handheld gaming device. It will have a 5-inch OLED screen with a 960 x 544 resolution, a “multitouch pad” mounted on the back, built-in Wi-Fi and 3G, built-in GPS, and multiple motion sensors. It will run on an ARM CortexA9 CPU with unknown graphics acceleration, and by all accounts sounds like a total beast of a device. It’s not alone, either; Sony Ericsson will be releasing a full-fledged gaming smartphone called the Xperia Play, as well.
