Nokia has lost two patent suits it filed against HTC, including one concerning the use of Google Play in Android devices.

The District Court of Mannheim ruled on Friday that HTC did not infringe on Nokia’s EP0812120 patent covering a “method for using services offered by a telecommunication network, a telecommunication system and a terminal for it”.

Nokia’s complaint was aimed at HTC’s use of Google Play and the content store on its Android devices, according to patent expert, Florian Mueller.

Nokia is blasting through its cash stockpile at what analysts call an unsustainable rate, raising fears that the company may not be able to turn its finances around. In the last five years, the company has blown away half its 10 billion Euro reserve, leaving it with less than 5 billion in cash on hand. At its current rate, Nokia risks running out of money in two years.

But while Nokia’s troubles are plentiful, they’re not without a glimmer of hope.

The Lumia 900 is selling well below its list price online, an indication that dealers are still struggling to build market share for Nokia’s flagship smartphone, which runs Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.5 operating system.

The Lumia 900 is still selling for its originally listed price of $99, with contract, through AT&T or Nokia directly and at retailers like Best Buy. But it can be had for just $49 from Amazon’s wireless shop. Amazon is known for its heavy discounts, but it’s noteworthy that Nokia’s top-end Windows Phone is now available for less than $50.
